Parking Lot No More: A Brand-New 40-Unit Condo Building Is Coming to Edgewater's Lakefront — Plus, Castle FC Kicks Off & Soccer Season Comes to the Neighborhood
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Edgewater ·
Edgewater's lakefront pocket near 6150 N. Sheridan Road is about to get a major glow-up — and this time, it's where a surface parking lot used to be. A full construction permit was issued on May 4 for a brand-new five-story condominium development at the site, with a reported project cost of $5 million. Designed by Hanna Architects and developed by 6150 N. Sheridan LLC, the building will rise 60 feet and deliver 40 new condominiums in a mix of two-, three-, and four-bedroom layouts — each with dedicated parking. It's a meaningful transformation of underutilized land into homes, and it's part of a larger surge of residential investment happening in this stretch of the neighborhood, with two additional nearby projects on N. Kenmore already permitted this year.
And if you're looking for a reason to get outside this spring, Edgewater has one more exciting kickoff on the horizon. Edgewater Castle FC's 2026 soccer season launches May 16 at Winnemac Stadium (5105 N. Leavitt St., behind Amundsen High School), with both Men's and Women's Rooks teams taking the pitch. Season tickets start at just $60 for adults and $30 for kids, with single-game tickets also available.
From new homes rising on the lakefront to local soccer bringing neighbors together, Edgewater is building something great — literally and figuratively. Grab your condo wish list or your team scarf and visit edgewater.org to stay in the know!
