Get Moving, Garfield Ridge: Valley Forge Park Is Your Neighborhood Hub for Spring Fitness This May
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Garfield Ridge ·
Spring has fully arrived on the Southwest Side, and Garfield Ridge's own Valley Forge Park is buzzing with activity just in time for the Chicago Park District's citywide May in Motion wellness initiative — giving neighbors of all ages a compelling reason to step outside and get active this month.
Nestled in the heart of the neighborhood, Valley Forge Park spans 8.32 acres and packs an impressive lineup of programming into its fieldhouse and outdoor spaces. This spring, park-goers can jump into seasonal sports, yoga, aerobics, gymnastics, and Moms, Pops & Tots sessions — plus tap and ballet for those with a flair for the performing arts. The fieldhouse, which features a gymnasium, fitness center, two multi-purpose rooms, and even a Harvest Garden, is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Outside, the basketball and soccer courts, softball fields, and horseshoe pits are ready for action. Summer day camp registration is also open now, with the popular six-week youth program kicking off in June.
Whether you're a longtime regular or haven't visited in a while, May is the perfect moment to rediscover everything Valley Forge Park has to offer. Check out the full spring schedule and summer camp registration at chicagoparkdistrict.com, and bring the whole family out for a season of health, fun, and Southwest Side community spirit!
