Garfield Ridge residents now have an even easier way to connect with their local government. On Saturday, May 16, Alderman Silvana Tabares (23rd Ward) celebrated the grand opening of her new ward office at 5680 S. Archer Ave. — bringing expanded access and Saturday hours to constituents across the Southwest Side.

The new office is a natural fit for the community. Tucked into a strip mall on Archer Avenue, it joins two existing city service offices already anchoring the block: the Chicago City Clerk's satellite office at 5672 S. Archer and the Garfield Ridge Satellite Senior Center at 5674B S. Archer Ave. — making it a genuine one-stop neighborhood service hub. Tabares kept her West Lawn location open as well, giving constituents two convenient options. Most importantly, the new office will be open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. — a game-changer for working families who can't make it in during the week. "We're going to be offering city services for anybody who wants to come in on a Saturday morning who can't make it in during the week," Tabares said. The alderman's son, 9-year-old Michael, is even volunteering on weekends — a sweet family touch that reflects the tight-knit spirit Garfield Ridge is known for.
