New Homes Coming to Archer Avenue & A Parade Around the Corner: McKinley Park Is Building Its Future This Weekend

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Mckinley Park ·

McKinley Park is writing two exciting new chapters this week — one etched in brick and mortar, and one marching proudly down 35th Street.

First, the neighborhood's development momentum is turning heads citywide. The Chicago Zoning Board of Appeals recently approved a variation for a brand-new mixed-use building at 3188 S. Archer Ave., bringing 24 residential units and street-level retail to one of McKinley Park's most-traveled corridors. And just a few blocks away, a sweeping multi-building project dubbed Bridgeport Crossing at 3301 S. Justine — with 223 dwelling units and retail — has filed its zoning application, signaling growing investor confidence in the Southwest Side. Together, these two projects reflect a neighborhood on the rise, with new neighbors and new storefronts soon to call McKinley Park home.

And just in time for the long weekend, the community gathers Monday, May 25 for McKinley Park's cherished Memorial Day Parade. Presented by the William McKinley American Legion Post 231 and the McKinley Park Civic Association, the parade steps off at 10 a.m. from the McKinley Park branch of the Chicago Public Library at 1915 W. 35th St., winding east to the American Legion Post at 1956 W. 35th St. It's a moving, street-level tribute that brings the whole neighborhood together to honor those who served. Come out, line the curb, and show your Southwest Side pride. Visit mckinleypark.news for full details.
