Fresh Picks & Fresh Plates: The South Loop Farmers Market Is Back — And Brûlée Is Already Dreaming of a Second Spot

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/South Loop ·

Saturday mornings in the Sloop just got a whole lot better. The South Loop Farmers Market has officially returned to Printers Row Park at 632 S. Dearborn St., running every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October 31 — with just two exceptions (no market July 4 or Sept. 12). Whether you're hunting for fresh seasonal produce, locally crafted prepared foods, pet treats, or beauty and wellness finds, the market's massive vendor lineup has something for virtually every neighbor. It's the kind of weekly ritual that makes the South Loop feel less like a city neighborhood and more like a real community — and with summer just around the corner, there's never been a better time to make it part of your Saturday routine.

And speaking of South Loop gems worth celebrating: Brûlée, Chef Emani Roberts' standout brunch destination at 2036 S. Michigan Ave., is already generating buzz about a potential second location. Roberts — a former private chef who cooked for celebrities and toured with New Edition before planting roots in the Sloop — has built Brûlée into a true neighborhood third space, complete with a Dark Matter coffee lounge and a wrap-around bar that draws conventioneers and locals alike. Impressively, Brûlée stays open on Mondays and Tuesdays when most restaurants go dark, smartly catering to the McCormick Place crowd. With Roberts openly brainstorming what a second Brûlée could look like, South Loop's brunch scene may be about to level up again.

Two reasons to love your Saturday in the Sloop — one outdoors, one over eggs. Have you hit the farmers market yet this season, or grabbed a table at Brûlée? Tell us your go-to Saturday morning spot in the Socialhood community!
