Summer is knocking on McKinley Park's door — and the neighborhood is answering with a full slate of community hangouts that prove the Southwest Side knows how to bring people together.

Marz Community Brewing Co. at 3630 S. Iron St. is once again earning its "community" name, serving as a neighborhood living room for everything from soccer watch parties and trivia nights to yoga sessions for adults this coming month. Meanwhile, just a few blocks away, the McKinley Park Field House at 2210 W. Pershing Rd. is hosting recurring music jam sessions open to all ages — a low-key, drop-in musical gathering that's quickly becoming a neighborhood staple. And for families with young ones, the McKinley Community Play Garden at 3518 S. Wolcott Ave. has community dining and all-ages programming on the horizon, while Hoyne Park at 3401 S. Hamilton Ave. is ramping up youth sports and active play programming as the season heats up.
