Broadway Comeback & Neighborhood Bites: DMApothecary Settles Into Its New Home — Plus, Edgewater's Social Scene Heats Up This June

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Edgewater ·

Good things come to those who wait — and Edgewater's DMApothecary is proof. After years of battling floods and landlord woes at its original Sheridan Road location, the beloved mother-son apothecary shop has planted firm roots at 5430 N. Broadway. Owner Deirdre Austin and her son Matthew Walcott stocked the bright new space with over 500 jars of herbs, and with the chaos of the move finally behind them, Austin is now bringing back the tea tastings, soap-making classes, and candle workshops that loyal customers have been missing. Open Tuesday–Friday 10 a.m.–4 p.m. and weekends 9 a.m.–4 p.m., it's the perfect neighborhood escape — just as Austin envisioned: a calm, welcoming corner where neighbors can "come and just unplug."

And if you're looking to plug back *in* with the community, Edgewater's social calendar has you covered. The Edgewater Chamber of Commerce has its next Happy Hour Networking event lined up at Beard & Belly — a fresh venue for the beloved mixer series. Members get in for

0, non-members for $25, and everyone is welcome. Meanwhile, trivia lovers can mark their calendars for Stewpendous Trivia nights at Loaves & Witches, a fun recurring event lighting up the neighborhood's evenings all summer long.

From herbal remedies on Broadway to craft beers and brain teasers, Edgewater keeps proving it's a neighborhood where community and small-business spirit go hand in hand. Check edgewater.org for event details and to stay plugged into everything the North Side's favorite neighborhood has going on!
