Hyde Park's Summer of Firsts: Farmers Market Returns, Art of Pride Lands at the Art Center & Tourists Are Coming

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Hyde Park ·

Hyde Park neighbors, this weekend is stacked — and summer 2026 is officially pulling up a chair.

First, mark this Sunday, June 7, on your calendar in big, bold letters: the Hyde Park Farmers Market is back for its summer season, running every Sunday through September 27 at its beloved community home. Presented by the South East Chicago Commission (SECC) and Special Service Area #61, the grand opening kicks off at 10 a.m. with DJ Doza spinning live on the ones and twos. Expect a fantastic lineup of local growers, freshly baked goods, handcrafted wellness products, specialty items like raw honey and artisan coffee, and hot lunch options — all under the open sky of one of Hyde Park's most treasured weekly traditions.

Also on Sunday, the Hyde Park Art Center is hosting Art of Pride 2026 — now in its fifth year — a free, all-ages afternoon of queer joy, live DJ sets, art workshops, and a Queer & Trans Artist Vendor Market, celebrating the brilliance of LGBTQ+ artists from across Chicago. And zooming out, CBS News Chicago is spotlighting something Hyde Park neighbors already know: with the Obama Presidential Center drawing visitors to the South Side, local restaurants and shops are preparing for a major tourism boom this summer — great news for the neighborhood's vibrant 53rd Street corridor.

Hyde Park, your summer is wide open and full of reasons to get outside. Will you hit the Farmers Market, the Art of Pride, or both? Tell your neighbors on Socialhood!
