Give, Take & Celebrate: Ravenswood's Record-Breaking Free-Cycle Just Happened — and a Brand-New Summer Fest Is Already on the Horizon
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Ravenswood ·
Ravenswood neighbors proved once again this weekend that community generosity is alive and well on the North Side. The annual Ravenswood Free-Cycle — the neighborhood's beloved take on a free yard sale — just wrapped up its biggest edition ever, with more than 200 homes registered to participate across the neighborhood. Organized by the Ravenswood Neighbors Association, the event ran Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., inviting residents to browse and take home anything and everything, completely free of charge. For neighbors who couldn't set up their own tables, a one-stop-shop donation drop-off was available at the Chicago Northside Church of the Nazarene at 1900 W. Leland Ave. — a popular addition that let people find treasures without trekking the whole neighborhood. The Free-Cycle is organized in partnership with Ravenswood Free Box, a year-round Facebook community built on the same spirit of sharing. If you missed it this year, the Ravenswood Neighbors Association tent outside of Hazel, 1835 W. Montrose Ave., was also on hand to welcome new members and connect neighbors to ways to stay involved.
And if the Free-Cycle has you feeling the warm-weather community spirit, mark your calendar now: the brand-new Ravenswood Feel Good Fest is set for August 8, 2026 — a fresh addition to the neighborhood's already stacked summer lineup. Between the Free-Cycle's record turnout and a new festival joining the roster, Ravenswood is having one of its best summers yet. Stay connected at ravenswoodchicago.org!
