A Chicago Chef Superstar Is Making His Comeback Right Here in Fulton Market — Meet Black Briar
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Loop ·
West Loop food lovers, brace yourselves: one of Chicago's most celebrated culinary talents is officially returning to the restaurant scene, and he's planting his flag right in your backyard. Chef Jimmy Papadopoulos — the acclaimed mind behind the now-legendary Bohemian House and Boka Group's beloved Bellemore — is debuting Black Briar, a bold American tavern at 201 N. Morgan St. in Fulton Market this June. Papadopoulos has teamed up with seasoned operator Tim Anderson to bring the concept to life, promising innovative yet approachable American staples rooted in genuine hospitality. It's his first restaurant since COVID, and the neighborhood buzz is real.
And Black Briar isn't the only exciting new chapter unfolding in the West Loop dining scene. SuSu, the opulent new steakhouse from chef Alexander Willis — formerly of Dusek's and Moody Tongue — has already opened at 652 W. Randolph St., taking over the storied former Grace and Yūgen space and drawing global flavor influences into every cut. Meanwhile, chef Bill Kim has made his triumphant return to Fulton Market, relocating his beloved casual dumpling and noodles spot Urbanbelly to 950 W. Fulton St. in partnership with Taratsa Hospitality Partners.
From comeback chefs to bold new concepts, West Loop's dining scene is firing on all cylinders this June. Will you be one of the first through the doors at Black Briar? Share your reservation plans and tag your neighbors right here on Socialhood!
