Circus Acts, Community BBQs & Fresh Produce: Irving Park's Summer Season Is Officially Here
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Irving Park ·
Irving Park neighbors, summer is pulling up a lawn chair and settling in — and Athletic Field Park is leading the charge. The park is gearing up to host "The Pieces," a stunning all-ages outdoor circus performance from Chicago's acclaimed Aloft Circus Arts. Using nothing but eight ladders, the troupe's performers build and rebuild towering structures in real time, turning questions of balance, trust, and resilience into something breathtaking and beautiful. It's free, it's dazzling, and it's happening right in your backyard.
But the fun doesn't stop there. Athletic Field Park is also hosting a "Sizzle into Summer" community BBQ — a volunteer-run neighborhood gathering packed with affordable food, friendly faces, and the kind of front-porch energy that makes Irving Park such a special place to call home. It's the perfect excuse to meet the neighbors you've been meaning to say hello to all winter.
Meanwhile, the Greater Irving Park Neighborhood Association's beloved farmers market is back in full swing at 3945 N. Springfield Ave., bringing local produce, quality meats, sweet treats, and live music to the neighborhood every week this season. With new development continuing to invest in the area and community programming like this firing on all cylinders, Irving Park's summer of 2026 is shaping up to be one for the books.
