Tap Shoes, Tie-Dye & Garden Gloves: Edgewater's Creative Community Is in Full June Bloom

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Edgewater ·

Edgewater's arts and community calendar is absolutely stacked this weekend — and there's something for everyone. First, theater lovers should not sleep on *Saturn Returns*, a brand-new production at the Edge Theater that weaves the universally human story of growing older through the magic of tap dance and live music. The show runs June 11–14, making this weekend your last chance to catch it. It's exactly the kind of intimate, neighborhood-born performance that makes Edgewater's arts scene so special.

Meanwhile, Smack Dab is turning June into a month of giving back and celebrating community. The beloved Edgewater spot is rolling out monthly Juneteenth and Pride specials throughout June, with proceeds supporting local LGBTQ+ organizations — good food and good values, all in one place. And if you want to get your hands a little dirty for a great cause, mark your calendar for Monday, June 15, when the Edgewater Environmental Coalition hosts a Vedgewater Community Garden Work Day at 6300 N. Broadway (5:30–7:30 p.m.). Volunteers will dig into ecological resilience and community-led outdoor systems at one of the neighborhood's most cherished green spaces.

From the stage to the soil, Edgewater continues to prove it's a neighborhood that nurtures creativity, inclusion, and connection in equal measure. Check out edgewater.org and the Edgewater Chamber events calendar for details on all of the above!
