West Englewood's Public Library Is Packed With Free Summer Programming — And It's Just Getting Started
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Englewood ·
Just in time for summer, the West Englewood Branch of the Chicago Public Library is firing on all cylinders — and neighbors have a packed lineup of free community events to look forward to in the days ahead. After reopening its doors at 1745 W. 63rd St. following a brief closure Thursday for a power outage, the branch is back and buzzing with activity. A string of programming runs through mid-June, including events on Sunday, June 15, Monday the 16th, and back-to-back offerings on Tuesday, June 17 — capped by another community gathering on Wednesday, June 18. The library also closes in observance of Juneteenth on Friday, June 19, a fitting acknowledgment of the holiday's deep meaning in the neighborhood.
For West Englewood residents, the library at 63rd Street is far more than a place to borrow books — it's a true community anchor, offering free access to programming, learning, and connection for neighbors of all ages. With summer just beginning, it's the perfect moment for families, seniors, and young people to make the branch a regular part of their week.
Stop in at 1745 W. 63rd St., give the branch a call at (312) 747-3481, or visit chipublib.org to browse the full June and July calendar. With free events, welcoming staff, and a neighborhood full of momentum, West Englewood's library is one resource no resident should sleep on this summer.
