Sip, Swirl & Sweeten Up: Lake View's Clark Street Gets a Global Coffee Gem, and a Rocky Mountain Candy Icon Is Headed to the North Side

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Lake View ·

Lake View's ever-evolving food and drink scene is welcoming two sweet new arrivals that couldn't be more different from each other — and both are worth getting excited about.

First, coffee lovers on Clark Street have a beautiful new reason to linger. Luckycat Café has opened its first permanent brick-and-mortar location at 2806 N. Clark St. in Lakeview East, after building a devoted following through pop-ups across the city. The AAPI- and woman-owned café is the brainchild of Stephanie Bian and Jake Lee, who honed their craft at pop-ups at Boonie's, the beloved Filipino restaurant in Lincoln Square, before planting roots near the busy Clark, Broadway, and Diversey intersection. What sets Luckycat apart is its specialty coffee sourced from China and roasted right here in Chicago, alongside rotating signature drinks inspired by Asian culinary traditions — and an educational, approachable approach to the coffee experience that welcomes newcomers and connoisseurs alike.

And for those with a sweet tooth, mark your calendars: Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory is eyeing a new Lake View location in the Southport Corridor area. Franchisee Tyson Minnick — who already operates the beloved Loop outpost — confirmed the expansion plans, with the shop expected to bring its signature chocolate sweets, caramel apples, fudge, and hot chocolate to the North Side. Whether you're in the market for a thoughtfully crafted latte or a hand-dipped caramel apple, Lake View is serving up something deliciously new — head to Clark Street and show Luckycat Café some neighborhood love!
