Fourth of July in Hyde Park Hits Different This Year: 4th on 53rd Parade, Summer Sunday Concerts & More Are Your Weekend Plans

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Hyde Park ·

Hyde Park neighbors, your holiday weekend just filled up fast — and in the best possible way. This Saturday, July 4th, one of Chicago's most beloved Independence Day traditions returns to the neighborhood: the 4th on 53rd Parade and Free Festival, a community staple with more than 30 years of history behind it. The parade kicks off at 11 a.m. from Hyde Park Bank at 1525 E. 53rd St., winding through the neighborhood with marching bands, floats, community groups, and kids on decorated bikes. After the procession, the celebration rolls straight into a free festival at Nichols Park (1355 E. 53rd St.) from noon to 3 p.m. — with performances, games, bouncy houses, face painting, a magician, and that unmistakable block-party energy that makes this one of Chicago's most community-rooted Fourth of July celebrations anywhere in the city.

And if you're already looking past the long weekend, mark your calendar now: the Summer Sunday Concert Series kicks off in Hyde Park on July 12th and runs all the way through August 16th — a stretch of free outdoor music that promises to soundtrack the rest of your summer Sundays in style. Meanwhile, over at Harper Court (5235 S. Harper Court), Jazz in the Court returns on Friday, July 10th, bringing live jazz to the courtyard in the heart of 53rd Street. Between the parade, the park festival, and a packed concert calendar, Hyde Park is making sure your July is as full as your heart.

Hyde Park neighbors, are you lining up for the 4th on 53rd, or saving your energy for the Sunday Concert Series? Tell your neighbors what you're most excited about on Socialhood!
