The pier's 2026 summer season is in full swing, with twice-weekly fireworks lighting up the sky over Lake Michigan every Wednesday and Saturday night through early September — a beloved tradition that never gets old from the Streeterville shoreline. Running alongside those fireworks is Skyline Sessions, a live outdoor concert series at Navy Pier running all summer long, turning the waterfront into one of the city's most electric warm-weather hangouts on any given night.
Meanwhile, history buffs have a special reason to get out on the water this season. Chicago Fireboat Tours is celebrating the 90th anniversary of the historic Fred A. Busse with a full season of programming and special events throughout 2026 — a milestone that connects Streeterville's waterfront to over nine decades of Chicago maritime heritage. It's a genuinely unique way to experience the neighborhood from a whole new vantage point.
