Getting There Just Got Better: Ravenswood's Lawrence Avenue Gateway Is Getting a Major Makeover
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Ravenswood ·
Good news for commuters and pedestrians in Ravenswood — the neighborhood's key transit hub at Lawrence and Ravenswood is in the middle of a significant infrastructure upgrade. Construction crews have been hard at work replacing the sidewalk and retaining wall on the south side of Lawrence Avenue, directly under the Metra tracks, as part of ongoing improvements to the Ravenswood Metra Station. It's the kind of behind-the-scenes investment that makes everyday life in the neighborhood safer, smoother, and more welcoming for the thousands of residents who pass through this gateway every week.
The timing couldn't be more fitting. The Lawrence and Ravenswood intersection is already one of the neighborhood's most important crossroads — it's the home of the Ravenswood Metra Station and serves as a primary entrance to the annual Ravenswood ArtWalk each fall. And the CTA recently announced an extension of a bus line all the way north to Lawrence and Ravenswood, making this corner more connected than ever for residents who rely on public transit to get around the city.
With Ravenswood On Tap just over a week away (July 18–19) and a packed summer calendar ahead, having a refreshed, more accessible Lawrence Avenue gateway is a welcome upgrade for everyone. Keep tabs on construction updates and all things Ravenswood at ravenswoodchicago.org — and get ready to enjoy the neighborhood in style this summer!
