Rock, Strings & Summer Nights: Jefferson Memorial Park's Free Concert Series Is Your New Favorite Friday Plan
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Jefferson Park ·
Jefferson Park neighbors, your summer just got a whole lot louder — in the best possible way. Jefferson Memorial Park's beloved Back Porch Music Series is back and in full swing, bringing free live music to the back porch of the historic Henry Esdohr House at 4822 N. Long Ave. on select Saturdays all summer long. Concerts kick off at 2:00 PM, and the vibe is pure Northwest Side magic — grab your lawn chair, pack a blanket, bring your snacks, and settle in for an afternoon of live music under the open sky, completely free of charge.
This summer's lineup features some serious energy. Local act Mean Street Brian Ash is bringing his band out of the bars and into the park — and trust us, this is not your average mellow afternoon set. Think loud, proud, and ready to rock. But the music scene at Jefferson Memorial Park runs deeper than one concert series. The park is home to the legendary all-volunteer Citywide Orchestra, which performs its own seasonal community concerts right here in the neighborhood. And for those who want to do more than just listen, adults can join in on chamber music, while youth can take piano, violin, and voice lessons — making Jefferson Memorial Park one of the most musically alive green spaces on the entire Northwest Side.
Whether you're a lifelong music lover or just looking for a free and joyful way to spend a summer afternoon with the family, the Back Porch Music Series is exactly what Jefferson Park summers are made of. Follow the Jefferson Memorial Park Advisory Council (jmpac.org) for the full schedule of upcoming concert dates — and don't forget your lawn chair!
