New Homes, New Shops & a Grant for the Arts: Irving Park's Building Boom Shows No Signs of Slowing
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Irving Park ·
Irving Park neighbors, your neighborhood's transformation continues to pick up steam — and this week brings fresh evidence that the momentum is real. A mixed-use development is in the works at 3007 W. Irving Park Road, planned by Lukaven Development. The proposed five-story building would bring 20 new residential units, roughly 2,800 square feet of street-level retail space, 15 parking spaces, and 20 bike parking spaces to the corridor — a thoughtful, transit-friendly footprint that signals serious investment in Irving Park's future.
Designed by Thomas Architects, the ground floor would feature a residential entrance alongside two retail spaces, with an interior garage accessible from the alley. With affordable housing units also part of the mix, the project continues Irving Park's track record of building for everyone — not just a select few.
And in a win for the neighborhood's creative soul, the Artists Book House — Irving Park's beloved nonprofit art space — has been awarded a City of Chicago grant to help fund a much-needed exterior renovation of its Irving Park home. It's a well-deserved boost for an institution that has long enriched the community's cultural life.
From new housing to arts investment, Irving Park is building a neighborhood worth staying in. Which of these developments are you most excited about? Sound off in the comments and tag a neighbor who needs to see this!
