Pedal, Run & Shop: Fulton Market's Biggest Street Festival Weekend Is Almost Here
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Near West Side ·
Near West Side neighbors, lace up your sneakers and dust off your bike helmets — Fulton Market is about to throw one of its most action-packed community weekends of the summer. This Sunday, July 26th, the Chicago Grit Fulton Market Grand Prix returns to transform the neighborhood's streets into a high-energy cycling spectacle, with elite men's and women's pro races that draw serious speed right to your doorstep. And if two wheels aren't your thing, the Fulton Market Loop Da Loop 5K runs alongside the action, giving runners of all levels a chance to race the same iconic streets before the pros take over. Finishers even score a complimentary drink ticket to enjoy at the beer garden — not a bad post-race reward.
But wait, there's more. Alongside the races, a local business expo and street festival runs all day long on Morgan Street at the start/finish line, putting Near West Side makers, vendors, and small businesses front and center for the neighborhood to discover and support. New this year, the Divvy Bikes Relay charity event kicks off at 4:35 p.m. — a fun, team-based ride open to anyone who wants to roll for a good cause. And for those who want to take a victory lap of their own, the free Community Bike Ride at 12:30 p.m. opens the closed course to families, kids, and casual riders before the pro heats begin.
This is the Near West Side at its very best — active, welcoming, and buzzing with neighborhood pride. Head to xxxracing.org for race details and registration, and follow Socialhood for all the latest updates!
