Concerts, Books & Community: Edgewater's Summer of Neighborhood Togetherness Is in Full Swing

If you're looking for reasons to get off the couch this August, Edgewater has your calendar covered — and most of it won't cost you a dime. The neighborhood is buzzing with community-driven programming that spans live music, local history, and intergenerational connection.
The Edgewater Historical Society has been hosting its beloved summer concert series in the EHS garden all season long. Running every Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. through August 19, the series features different local musicians each week in a lush, intimate outdoor setting that's welcoming to children, pets, and everyone in between. This Wednesday, August 12, is your second-to-last chance to catch a free performance before the series wraps for the year — don't sleep on it. Meanwhile, the Chicago History Book Group is gathering at the Edgewater Branch of the Chicago Public Library (6000 N. Broadway) this month around a deep dive into Chicago's political history, bringing curious neighbors together over shared reading in the Betty A. Barclay Community Room.
And on Thursday, August 13, the Edgewater Branch Library hosts its Community Music Jam — an open, drop-in session welcoming acoustic musicians, singers, and listeners of all skill levels from 4 to 5 p.m. The same day, Edgewater Village Chicago brings its popular monthly tech literacy program to the library, helping older adults navigate new devices with guidance from retired technology teacher Michael Kennedy.
