West Englewood's late-summer momentum hit a high note this past week with two standout community gatherings that brought neighbors, entrepreneurs, and young people together in celebration and solidarity.
First, on August 1, Kingdom Avenue Inc. drew a crowd to the corner of 63rd and Halsted for the 6th Annual Englewood Stomp The Yard (ESTY 2026). Now a signature late-summer tradition, the free back-to-school block party offered free school supplies, live entertainment, scholarships, and connections to more than 100 community organizations — all in one energized afternoon. Kingdom Avenue, an Englewood-based nonprofit, built the event around a clear mission: helping youth heal, grow, and thrive while strengthening the bonds that hold the neighborhood together. Then, just five days later on August 6, the Greater Englewood Chamber of Commerce hosted its Alumni Summer Mixer at a symbolically powerful address — 6900 S. Emerald Avenue, the future site of the Chamber's own Innovation Hub. The evening brought together entrepreneurs, business owners, workforce alumni, and community leaders to reconnect, celebrate shared wins, and look ahead to Englewood's growing business ecosystem.
