First, the next time you're strolling through Harper Court, look up: a stunning new series of portraits by artist Anthony Olusina Schleicher is now on display, honoring 10 Chicagoans with deep ties to Hyde Park and the South Side. It's the kind of public art that makes your neighborhood feel like a gallery without walls — and absolutely worth a slow walk to take in. Meanwhile, over on the music front, the Hyde Park Jazz Festival's Back Alley Jazz series is bringing free live performances to South Shore this Saturday, August 15, from 1 to 6 p.m. at 77th Street and King Drive — featuring pianist Reginald T. McCants and the Ari Brown Trio.
