Jeff Fest Is Dead, Long Live the Beef: Jefferson Park's Beloved Summer Festival Gets a Delicious Rebrand — And a New Identity That's All Chicago

Jefferson Park neighbors, a beloved summer institution just got a bold makeover — and if you love Italian beef, you might want to bookmark your calendar right now. The Jefferson Park Arts & Music Festival, affectionately known for years as "Jeff Fest," has officially been reborn as the **Chicago Italian Beef Fest**, and the new name isn't just a fresh coat of paint. It's a full rethink of what a Jefferson Park summer festival can be.
The transformation was spearheaded by the Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Special Events Management, the Chicago-based events company that produces a number of the city's signature street festivals. According to Bella Ventresca, executive director of the Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce, the chamber began conversations with Special Events Management earlier this year about evolving the festival's identity. The goal, she explained, was to build on Jeff Fest's established foundation while giving it something distinctly its own.
"We wanted to build on what we already had with Jeff Fest, but also give the festival its own unique Chicago identity," Ventresca said. The calculus behind the rebrand is straightforward neighborhood economics: "If Italian beefs can be the thing that brings thousands of people into Jefferson Park, that is a huge win for our local economy and our businesses."
The festival took place at Jefferson Park, 4822 N. Long Ave., over three days: 5–10 p.m. on Friday, July 31; noon–10 p.m. on Saturday, August 1; and noon–8 p.m. on Sunday, August 2. The lineup of live music was a highlight across both the main stage and a dedicated community stage. Friday's main stage opened at 6 p.m. with The Birkenrocks, followed by Bostyxx. Saturday brought School of Rock Chicago, The PriSSillas, the U2 tribute act Without U2, Simply Billy, and crowd favorite Sixteen Candles. Sunday's main stage featured Bucket Number Six, The Wild Chicago, Simply Elton, and The Chicago Experience.
What made the festival feel especially rooted in the neighborhood was the community stage, organized not by the outside events company but by Jefferson Park Forward, the homegrown neighborhood association. Local acts filled those sets across all three days — including Ian McKinley, Dexter, and Emily Jane Powers on Friday; DJ Sliam, 8-Bit Creeps, The Prime, Salisman, and Little Church on Saturday; and, fittingly, the Chicago Music and Acting Academy and the Jefferson Park Songwriters on Sunday.
The dual-stage structure — one curated for citywide draw, one handed over to Jefferson Park's own talent — captures something real about where this neighborhood is right now. Jefferson Park has been steadily building its cultural identity, from the Northwest Art Trail along Milwaukee Avenue to its first community parade in nearly 50 years back in June. The Italian Beef Fest rebrand fits that arc: an ambitious, outward-facing event that doesn't forget its own backyard.
And the neighborhood's festival calendar isn't done yet. This very Labor Day weekend — September 4 through 7 — Jefferson Park is also hosting the **Taste of Polonia**, one of Chicago's most cherished ethnic cultural celebrations, per WTTW's 2026 Chicago Summer Festival Guide. For a neighborhood with deep Polish roots and the Copernicus Center as one of its anchors, the Taste of Polonia is a fitting bookend to a summer full of community celebration.
For Jefferson Park residents, the message from this summer's festival season is clear: your neighborhood is becoming a destination, not just a place people pass through on the Blue Line. Whether it's Italian beef drawing foodies from across the city or local songwriters taking the community stage on a Sunday afternoon, Jefferson Park is writing a story that's entirely its own.
