Revved Up for Fall: Community Savings Bank and Portage Park Chamber Bring Free Car Show & Fall Fest to Belmont Ave.

By Socialhood News · Portage Park ·

Portage Park's unofficial farewell to summer is getting four wheels and a whole lot of chrome. Community Savings Bank and the Portage Park Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to host their Annual Car Show and Fall Fest — a free neighborhood celebration that gives residents one last chance to soak up the season before Chicago's autumn takes hold.

The event runs from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the parking lot of Community Savings Bank at 4801 W. Belmont Ave. According to Lawndale News, the festival will feature a collection of vintage cars on display for automobile enthusiasts to admire — making it a genuine showcase for classic-car fans on the Northwest Side. And in a detail that says everything about the spirit behind the event, organizers put it plainly: "This is a free event for people in the neighborhood to bring their families to and celebrate the start of fall."

The combination of a community bank, the neighborhood's own Chamber of Commerce, and a free public gathering space is a classic Portage Park formula — the kind of low-barrier, all-ages event that has long defined how this corner of the Northwest Side marks its calendar. Belmont Avenue is one of the neighborhood's key commercial corridors, running through the heart of a community area that, according to the Chicago Park District, spans more than three square miles between Montrose Avenue to the north, Belmont Avenue to the south, Pulaski Road to the east, and Harlem Avenue to the west. Anchoring a community celebration right on that southern boundary puts the fest squarely in the middle of the neighborhood's daily life.

For the Portage Park Chamber of Commerce, the Car Show and Fall Fest is a continuation of its role as the connective tissue between the neighborhood's business community and its residents. The Chamber — whose boundaries cover approximately three square miles on the Northwest Side — has been an active presence throughout 2026, co-organizing events and amplifying neighborhood news across its calendar and member network. Pairing with Community Savings Bank, a local financial institution with deep roots on Belmont Avenue, gives the event both institutional backing and genuine neighborhood credibility.

The timing, landing in mid-September, is well chosen. With the Portage Park Farmers Market still running on select Sundays through October 18, and fall Chicago Park District programming underway through December 13, the Car Show and Fall Fest slots neatly into a stretch of weeks when the neighborhood's community calendar is at its most active. It's the kind of event that invites you to come for the cars and stay for the conversation — running into a neighbor, discovering a Chamber member business you hadn't noticed before, and remembering why Portage Park's block-by-block community identity is worth celebrating.

Admission is free, and no registration is required — just show up at 4801 W. Belmont Ave. between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. and bring the family. For more information on this and other upcoming events, visit the Portage Park Chamber of Commerce at portageparkchamber.org.
