Bricktown's Milwaukee Mile Bounces Back: Chicago Pickle Eatery Eyes Avondale Return as Little Lark Quietly Opens at Guild Row

By Socialhood News · Avondale ·

Two Milwaukee Avenue food stories — one a comeback, one a quiet debut — are giving Avondale residents fresh reasons to walk the corridor this Halloween weekend. The Chicago Pickle Eatery, the bodega-style deli that opened at 3055 N. Milwaukee Ave. in 2023 before a building fire forced it to close last September, is working toward a reopening at that same Avondale address. And just a few blocks south, Little Lark has opened inside Guild Row, the creative complex at 3130 N. Rockwell St., adding a new food option to one of the neighborhood's most active maker spaces.

The Pickle Eatery story is one of Bricktown's more dogged comeback narratives of 2026. Owner Atieh launched the brand in 2023 with a mission to bring New York City bodega-style sandwiches and Chicago breakfast and lunch staples to the Northwest Side. The Avondale location at 3055 N. Milwaukee — at the intersection of North Milwaukee and North Lawndale avenues — became a neighborhood fixture before a fire in September 2025 knocked it out of commission. Block Club Chicago reported in April that Atieh described the intervening months as a "nightmare," as he waited for the building's landlord and insurance company to work out a path forward. The target, Atieh said at the time, is a reopening by the end of 2026. In the meantime, he opened a Wicker Park outpost at 1308 N. Milwaukee Ave. — which carries the full Chicago Pickle menu, including breakfast sandwiches, chicken tenders, wings, salads, subs, burgers, and coffee from Magnifico Coffee Roaster, the deli's Avondale neighbor — and is also a partner in a new vegan restaurant next door to that Wicker Park location called the Green Ape at 1310 N. Milwaukee. For Avondale regulars who miss the original, keeping tabs on @chicagopickleeatery on Instagram is the best way to track progress on the Milwaukee Ave. homecoming.

The Little Lark opening inside Guild Row is a different kind of story — quieter, but worth knowing about. Little Lark is a new pizza and sandwich concept that landed inside the co-working and creative complex at 3130 N. Rockwell St., and it comes from the same group behind Meadowlark bar, Lardon, and Union — three well-regarded spots all located on the same block in Logan Square. That pedigree matters: when the team behind Lardon, the charcuterie-forward Logan Square anchor, puts a new concept somewhere, it tends to land well. Guild Row itself has been one of Avondale's most interesting addresses for a while now, functioning as a co-working hub, event space, and home to a rotating cast of food and creative tenants. Little Lark slots into that ecosystem as the complex's in-house dining option, giving daytime workers and evening visitors a reason to eat without leaving the building.

Taken together, the two stories reflect something consistent about how Avondale's Milwaukee Avenue corridor operates. It does not give up on its operators easily. The Pickle Eatery didn't disappear when fire closed its doors — it expanded to a new neighborhood while fighting to come back to the one it started in. And Little Lark didn't need a standalone storefront to make its Avondale debut; it found a home inside an existing community space and worked from there. Both moves are characteristic of the low-overhead, neighborhood-embedded approach that has defined the best of Bricktown's food scene for years.

For residents who want to support the Pickle Eatery while the Avondale location works through its rebuild, the Wicker Park outpost at 1308 N. Milwaukee Ave. is open and serving the full menu. Updates on the 3055 N. Milwaukee Ave. reopening are being posted to @chicagopickleeatery on Instagram. For Little Lark at Guild Row, head to 3130 N. Rockwell St. — accessible from the Belmont Blue Line and a short walk from the heart of the Milwaukee corridor — and check Guild Row's own channels for current hours. Bricktown's Milwaukee Avenue is not standing still.
