Women's Sports Find New Home as Babe's Sports Bar Opens in Logan Square
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Logan Square ·
After a successful crowdfunding campaign and complete interior renovation, Logan Square has welcomed Babe's Sports Bar at 3017 W. Armitage Ave., giving women's sports fans a dedicated venue in the neighborhood. Equipped with eight TVs capable of showing four women's sports games simultaneously, the bar is already planning events, sports-related movie screenings, and watch parties for the community.
The grand opening celebration took place on Saturday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that featured members of the Chicago Stars FC women's soccer team. Other local athletes were also in attendance, including members of the Chicago Sky and the Chicago Winds women's football league. The bar takes over the former Music Lounge space, which had sat vacant for more than seven years, and joins other new businesses revitalizing this section of Armitage Avenue, including Omakase Box which opened across the street in July.
The 1,600-square-foot interior can accommodate more than 100 people, with an additional outdoor patio for up to 40 guests. Bar manager Margaux Lent, formerly of Orkenoy, has created a menu featuring six standard cocktails, non-alcoholic options, craft beer, and a carefully curated wine list. While the bar doesn't have a kitchen, patrons can order food from nearby Yaba's Food & Middle Eastern Grill. Logan Square residents are encouraged to stop by to experience this unique addition to the neighborhood and support women's athletics in a welcoming community space.
