New Cultural Exhibition Opens at Hull House Museum in University Village
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/University Village Little Italy ·
University Village Little Italy residents have a new reason to visit the historic Jane Addams Hull House Museum this month. The museum, a beloved neighborhood landmark, has updated its exhibitions for fall 2025 with a focus on the neighborhood's rich immigrant history.
The Hull House Museum now occupies the last remaining building of what was once a larger settlement house complex. Currently offering free admission with welcomed donations, the museum is open daily except Mondays and Saturdays. The first floor features a newly refreshed exhibition on the history of Hull House, including a scale model of the original complex along with keys to all the buildings and other artifacts that tell the story of this important community center.
After exploring the museum, visitors can create a picnic with fresh sandwiches and salads from Conte de Savoia, a neighborhood staple since 1948, or explore the authentic Italian cuisine along Taylor Street, the true heart of the neighborhood, where generational restaurants and delis offer everything from homemade lasagna to traditional dishes in classic white-tablecloth settings. Community members are encouraged to visit this weekend and share their experiences on social media using #UVLIhistory to help document the ongoing story of our vibrant neighborhood.
