Logan Theatre's Giallo Gelato Event Brings Italian Horror and Sweet Treats to Logan Square

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Logan Square ·

The Logan Theatre in Logan Square is set to host a unique cultural event combining cinema and dessert with the upcoming Giallo Gelato festival. The four-night celebration features Italian horror films from the giallo genre – Italy's post-World War II answer to Alfred Hitchcock that combines elements of horror, thrillers and murder with distinctive artistic style.

Film enthusiasts can enjoy classics like Dario Argento's "Deep Red" on Saturday and "Autopsy" by Armando Crispino on Friday, with each screening paired with specially crafted gelato flavors inspired by the evening's feature. The series continues through Monday with Andrea Bianchi's provocatively titled "Strip Nude for Your Killer" and Luigi Bazzoni's "Footprints on the Moon" rounding out the program. Hosted by Stephanie Sack, this celebration marks the 50th anniversary of these 1975 cult classics, described as "equal parts murder mystery, fashion fantasy, and fever dream" where "sleaze meets style, art meets arterial spray, and every killer indeed comes dressed to kill."

Logan Square residents and horror fans from across Chicago are encouraged to experience this perfect seasonal blend of chills and sweet treats. Tickets are available now at LoganTheatre.com for this uniquely curated event that highlights both the neighborhood's vibrant arts scene and the historic theater's commitment to showcasing distinctive cinema experiences.
