Historic Two-Flat Rehabilitation Brings New Housing Options to Palmer Square

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Palmer Square ·

Palmer Square residents will soon have more housing options as local design firm Via Chicago Architects continues work on rehabilitating a landmark two-flat at 3101 W. Palmer Square. The project, which aims to preserve the building's historical character while creating modern living spaces, addresses the neighborhood's growing need for additional apartments in the increasingly popular area.

The renovation project was recently featured during Logan Square Preservation's 35th Biennial House Walk in September, where the architects shared insights into their preservation process and vision for the property. According to Laura Irons from the preservation group, the rehabilitation represents an important balance between honoring Palmer Square's architectural heritage and meeting current housing demands in the area that has become known for its tree-lined streets and vibrant community atmosphere.

Residents interested in learning more about this and other development projects can access updated property information through Chicago Cityscape, which refreshed its Palmer Square database on October 10, 2025, tracking 375 properties in the neighborhood. Community members are encouraged to attend upcoming Palmer Square Park Advisory Council meetings to discuss neighborhood developments and share input on future improvements to this historic Chicago community.
