LeClaire Courts Redevelopment Breaks Ground in Garfield Ridge as First Construction Permits Issued

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Garfield Ridge ·

The first two buildings of the LeClaire Courts redevelopment in Garfield Ridge have received construction permits from the City of Chicago. The Habitat Company and Cabrera Capital Partners are co-developers with Solomon Cordwell Buenz behind the architectural planning. The George Sollitt Construction Company of Wood Dale has been designated as the general contractor for the project.

Located about a mile and a half north of Midway Airport, the original LeClaire Courts public housing community was built in the 1950s and demolished in 2011. This initial phase of redevelopment will fill the gap along the west side of Cicero Avenue between 44th and 45th Streets. While initial plans had projected a spring 2025 groundbreaking, the recent issuance of permits signals that construction may begin soon. The development team has not yet announced an official construction start date or projected completion timeline.

This project represents a significant investment in Garfield Ridge's housing infrastructure and continues the neighborhood's ongoing development. Residents interested in learning more about the LeClaire Courts redevelopment can attend upcoming Garfield Ridge Neighborhood Watch meetings or follow local community organizations for construction updates and potential community impact discussions.
