West Pullman Welcomes First Completed Townhomes in Habitat for Humanity's Ambitious Housing Project

West Pullman residents are celebrating as Habitat for Humanity Chicago completes the first block of four townhomes in its ambitious 20-unit development project located across from the future Morgan Park Commons. The newly constructed two-story homes, featuring individual garages and situated near community green spaces, represent a significant investment in the neighborhood's future.

"We are proud to deepen our investment in West Pullman through this 20-unit townhome project," stated Jennifer Parks, Habitat Chicago's Executive Director. "West Pullman has many incredible assets on which to build, and inviting 20 new homebuyers to invest in this community alongside other long-tenured homeowners creates a lasting impact both at an individual and neighborhood level." All units will be sold through Habitat Chicago's Affordable Homeownership Program, where qualified homebuyers receive financial education and pay no more than 30% of their gross income on mortgage and home expenses. The development joins several other exciting projects in the area, including the Red Line Extension and Far South CDC Marketplace. "These projects reflect our dedication to fostering a thriving and inclusive community, and West Pullman has always been home to a robust and hardworking community," noted 21st Ward Alderman Ronnie Mosley.

Residents interested in learning more about homeownership opportunities or volunteering with Habitat for Humanity Chicago can visit their website or attend the upcoming West Pullman Neighborhood Association meeting this Saturday at the local library branch, where representatives will discuss future phases of the project and additional community initiatives planned for 2026.
