Rogers Park Prepares for Vibrant Holiday Mercadito Market at Camino Clark Cultural District
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Rogers Park ·
Rogers Park residents and visitors will soon have a unique opportunity to support local artisans and find one-of-a-kind gifts at the upcoming Holiday Mercadito Market on November 22. Hosted by the Rogers Park Business Alliance, the event will take place at the GROW/PROGRESANDO entrepreneurial training center on Clark Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will showcase a diverse array of handmade crafts and products from local vendors. Special features include a free gift-wrapping station provided by St. Jerome Church and complimentary Ponche (a traditional Mexican hot fruit punch) donated by local restaurant La Casa Vieja.
The market is part of a series of cultural events celebrating Camino Clark, Rogers Park's state-designated Mexican Cultural District that spans approximately two miles along Clark Street from Howard Street to Devon Avenue. Home to over 200 businesses, this vibrant corridor has become a focal point for celebrating the neighborhood's rich cultural diversity and supporting local economic development. The designation recognizes the unique cultural identity of the area while creating opportunities for local entrepreneurs and artists to showcase their talents.
Community members interested in discovering unique gifts for the holiday season are encouraged to attend the Mercadito, described as "Rogers Park's creative marketplace celebrating culture, craftsmanship, and community." Visitors can expect to find everything from jewelry and pottery to baked treats, accessories, and home items created by talented local artisans.
