Gus' Sip & Dip Brings Classic Tavern Revival to Near North's River North District
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Near North ·
Near North residents have a stylish new gathering spot with the opening of Gus' Sip & Dip, a refreshed take on classic tavern fare now serving in River North. Developed by Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants along with beverage director Kevin Beary and bar manager Scott Kitsmiller, this new establishment honors the legacy of Gus' Good Food, a neighborhood staple that operated at the same location for decades. Located at 51 W. Hubbard St., the restaurant offers 30 reimagined classic cocktails, each carefully modernized and priced for accessibility.
The menu features elevated bar bites including French Dip sandwiches, Wagyu Steak Frites, and Ice Cold Shrimp Cocktail, all served in a timeless barroom atmosphere that balances nostalgia with contemporary dining expectations. Meanwhile, culture enthusiasts can explore the Chicago Architecture Biennial's newly opened fifth exhibition site at 840 North Michigan Avenue, marking a major moment in the Biennial's tenth anniversary edition. The 65,000-square-foot space spans four floors on one of Chicago's most iconic intersections and has been transformed to showcase more than thirty installations from architects, artists, and studios from around the world.
Near North residents are encouraged to visit the Biennial's exhibition, which is completely free and open to the public, offering a convenient opportunity to engage with cutting-edge architectural ideas right in the neighborhood. The pairing of new dining options with expanded cultural offerings continues to enhance Near North's reputation as one of Chicago's most dynamic and accessible urban communities.
