Void Restaurant Celebrates One-Year Anniversary as Avondale's Culinary Hidden Gem
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Avondale ·
Avondale's dining scene continues to flourish as Void Restaurant marks its first anniversary this month, cementing its status as one of the neighborhood's most beloved culinary destinations. Located at 2937 N. Milwaukee Avenue in a transformed former tavern space, the Italian-American eatery has earned critical acclaim for its creative approach to comfort food, most notably its signature dish - Spaghetti Uh-O's served in vintage-inspired cans.
Founded by industry veterans Tyler Hudec, Dani Kaplan, and Pat Ray, who met while working at Logan Square's Analogue years ago, Void has become a cornerstone of Avondale's growing reputation as a culinary hotspot. The restaurant's warm atmosphere, featuring stained glass lamps and antique art, perfectly complements its menu of house-made pastas, focaccia, and locally sourced meats. "We want it to be a cool place to be in, a cool place to hang out and a cool place to work," co-owner Hudec explained when describing their vision for the space.
Residents can join the anniversary celebrations throughout November with special menu items and events planned at the restaurant. The success of establishments like Void contributes to Avondale's recent recognition by TimeOut as the world's fifth coolest neighborhood in 2025, which praised the area for its balance of tradition with growth and noted "there's never been a better time to explore the neighbourhood."
