Logan Square's Community-Funded Mental Health Center Set to Open in January

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Logan Square ·

Logan Square residents will soon have access to a new mental health resource as the long-awaited LoSAH Center of Hope prepares to open its doors in late January. Located at 3557 W. Armitage Avenue, the 5,000-square-foot facility represents a grassroots victory for the neighborhood after residents voted in 2018 to fund the center through a modest property tax increase.

The center will offer various mental health services and community resources, including therapy offices, an art therapy and meditation room, and a sensory garden. Free workshops, mental health first aid training, and art therapy classes will be available to the public in the center's community room, which is being designed with bright colors and artwork to create a welcoming atmosphere.

"This is filling a void," says Dr. Angela Sedeño, executive director and CEO of Expanded Mental Health Services of Chicago. Construction is currently underway, with interior walls receiving fresh paint and final installations being completed. Residents interested in learning more about the center's services or attending the planned grand opening celebration can follow updates through the Logan Square Chamber of Commerce.
