Roosevelt Square Development Enters Final Phase in University Village Little Italy

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/University Village Little Italy ·

University Village Little Italy residents are witnessing significant progress as the Roosevelt Square development enters its final phase this month. The mixed-income housing project, which began after the demolition of the ABLA public housing developments in the early 2000s, is transforming the neighborhood with modern townhouses and condominiums while preserving the area's distinctive character.

According to local officials, this final phase will add approximately 70 new residential units, with construction expected to be completed by spring 2026. The development has already received $9.7 million from the Roosevelt/Racine Tax Increment Financing District, reflecting the city's commitment to neighborhood revitalization. The project aims to create a diverse community by offering a mix of market-rate, affordable, and public housing options.

Residents interested in learning more about the Roosevelt Square development can attend the upcoming University Village Neighborhood Association meeting on November 20, where representatives from The Related Companies will present the latest designs and answer community questions. The meeting will take place at Conte Di Savoia community room at 6:30 PM, and neighbors are encouraged to participate and share their ideas for enhancing community spaces within the development.
