Palmer Square Launches Winter Community Market Series for the Holidays
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Palmer Square ·
Palmer Square residents have something new to look forward to this winter season with the announcement of a Winter Bazaar launching November 29 in the former Extraordinarium retail space. The market will continue operating every Saturday through March 29, 2026, bringing a much-needed community gathering space to the neighborhood during the colder months.
This new winter market initiative comes at a perfect time for Palmer Square, which recently made history as Chicago's first arboretum. The arboretum classification has given more weight to tree preservation and education in the area, with species now labeled throughout the park to facilitate educational walks and tours. The Winter Bazaar will highlight the Midwest's best handcrafted gifts including jewelry, custom-made clothing and accessories, artisanal candles, handcrafted toys, and original art pieces. What makes this market special is the opportunity for residents to chat directly with the artisans who crafted the gifts, fostering connections within the community.
Residents interested in participating as vendors or volunteers should contact the Palmer Square Park Advisory Council. This seasonal initiative promises to become a vibrant hub for holiday shopping while supporting local artists and craftspeople during the winter months.
