South Loop's massive 62-acre development site known as 'The 78' was transformed into a children's construction paradise last month during Clayco's fourth annual 'Kids Dig' fundraiser. Construction firm Clayco hosted the special event at the South Loop development site, allowing young patients from Lurie Children's Hospital to operate heavy construction equipment including excavators, dump trucks, and bulldozers with professional assistance.

The site's name refers to the existing 77 community areas in Chicago, with this area set to become the unofficial 78th.
