New Soul Food Restaurant 'Kisha's Kitchen' Brings Homestyle Flavors to West Pullman
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Pullman ·
West Pullman residents have a new dining option to enjoy with the recent opening of Kisha's Kitchen, a soul food take-out restaurant that launched this spring in the Maple Park Marketplace shopping plaza at Halsted Street and 115th Street. The restaurant adds a welcome dining option to the neighborhood, which has been working to expand its food offerings beyond fast food establishments.
The new eatery is part of broader revitalization efforts in the area, as the Far South Community Development Corporation continues its work to transform the Maple Park Marketplace. According to development plans, the plaza will soon welcome additional businesses, including a dine-in restaurant, health center, and grocery store. This commercial hub sits strategically across from the organization's 12-acre Morgan Park Commons mixed-use housing development, creating an emerging community center at the intersection of West Pullman, Morgan Park, and Roseland neighborhoods.
Residents interested in supporting this and other local Black-owned businesses can participate in community events organized by the Far South CDC, including their annual Juneteenth Festival scheduled for June 2026. The ongoing development at Maple Park Marketplace represents a significant step in Far South CDC's ambitious Bringing Communities Back Initiative, which aims to repurpose nearly 1 million square feet of underutilized space into thriving community anchors across Chicago's Far South Side.
