By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/University Village Little Italy ·
The holiday season is arriving in University Village Little Italy, with the neighborhood preparing to launch its first-ever Taylor Street Holiday Market this weekend. The market, organized by the University Village Association, aims to showcase local small businesses and artisans while bringing festive cheer to Chicago's historic Italian-American district.
Located along Taylor Street, the true heart of Little Italy, the market will feature numerous neighborhood favorites including The Rosebud, Tuscany on Taylor, and Pompei restaurants offering seasonal specialties. Conte Di Savoia, the beloved Italian grocery and deli serving up delicious sandwiches and salads since 1948, will create special holiday gift baskets featuring imported Italian delicacies.
The event coincides with the holiday decorating of the historic Shrine of Our Lady Pompeii and other architectural landmarks along Lexington Street. Visitors are encouraged to stroll through the neighborhood to admire the stunning Italianate architecture, including the William Onahan Row Houses built in the mid-1870s, while enjoying the festive atmosphere of this unique Chicago neighborhood. Residents and visitors alike can share their market experiences on social media using #TaylorStreetHoliday2025.
