Palmer Square Residents Embrace New Women's Sports Bar as Neighborhood Gathering Spot

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Palmer Square ·

Palmer Square residents have a new community gathering spot with the recent opening of Babe's Sports Bar at 3017 W. Armitage Avenue in neighboring Logan Square, just a short walk from Palmer Square Park. The innovative venue, which opened its doors in late September, is making history as Chicago's first bar dedicated exclusively to showing women's sports on its eight televisions.

The bar has quickly become popular with neighborhood residents, drawing crowds for WNBA playoff games and featuring appearances by local women athletes including members of Chicago's Stars FC soccer team. While Babe's doesn't have its own kitchen, it's fostering community connections by partnering with nearby Yaba's Grill, a Palestinian Middle Eastern deli just two doors down. Most evenings, the deli brings over trays of hot lemon and pepper seasoned fries, which the bar distributes in small bags to guests around 9 p.m., creating a neighborly atmosphere that resonates with Palmer Square's community-focused character.

Residents interested in exploring this new addition to the neighborhood can visit Babe's Tuesday through Sunday to watch games from Chicago's professional women's teams including the Sky, Stars FC, Chicago Tempest rugby team, Chicago Winds football team, and Windy City Rollers roller derby. The bar's opening adds another dimension to the area's vibrant social scene while providing a welcoming space for sports enthusiasts to connect with neighbors.
