Humboldt Park's
1.9 Million Renovation Brings New Football Field, Garden Restoration to Historic Park

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Humboldt Park ·

Humboldt Park residents have cause for celebration as the historic 219-acre park is set to receive

1.9 million in improvements funded through the Division/Homan TIF district. The comprehensive renovation plan, which follows years of advocacy from neighbors, members of the Humboldt Park Advisory Council, and Alderperson Jessie Fuentes (26th), will transform several key areas of this beloved community space.

The improvements include a new football field for the Humboldt Park Patriots near the boathouse, restorations to the signature fieldhouse with new function rooms and infrastructure upgrades to prevent flooding, improvements to the tennis courts, renovations to the pool house, rehabilitation of standalone bathrooms, and reconstruction of the park's formal garden. "By early spring, we can begin to see those improvements to the formal garden; it's one of the most beautiful assets of the park," Fuentes noted after the funding package was approved. Residents interested in learning more about the timeline for specific improvements or getting involved with community input sessions can contact the Humboldt Park Advisory Council for upcoming meeting dates.
