West Pullman's We Sow We Grow Urban Agriculture District Expands with Winter Programming for 2026

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Pullman ·

West Pullman residents have exciting news as the Roseland-Pullman Urban Agriculture and Community Garden Network announces expanded winter programming for the neighborhood's growing garden initiatives. The network, which serves as a vital connection point for local gardeners and environmental enthusiasts, is preparing special educational workshops focused on sustainable urban farming practices for the coming winter months.

This expansion builds on West Pullman's impressive environmental transformation, which includes the successful conversion of former brownfields into thriving community gardens with EPA support. The neighborhood is already home to the largest urban photovoltaic solar plant in the United States—a pioneering 10 MW facility spanning 39 acres with 32,800 solar panels that generates enough power for approximately 1,500 Midwest homes. Community members interested in participating in the expanded garden network can attend an information session at West Pullman Park on Saturday, November 29, where organizers will share details about winter workshops and plot reservations for the 2026 growing season.
