New French Bistro 'Petite Edith' Set to Enhance Near North's Culinary Scene

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Near North ·

Near North residents will soon welcome an exciting addition to the neighborhood's renowned dining landscape as Esmé's team prepares to open Petite Edith in River North. The new French bistro, which follows the successful summer launch of their steakhouse The Alston, promises to focus heavily on seafood while highlighting local Midwest produce.

This latest culinary destination joins several other notable establishments enhancing Near North's reputation as a premier dining district. The neighborhood continues to attract prestigious restaurant groups, with Boka Restaurant Group planning Zarella Pizzeria & Taverna for spring 2026 at the corner of Grand and Wells. The two-level space will feature tufted leather booths, vintage-style lighting, and a downstairs taverna serving both artisan thin-crust and classic Chicago-style pizzas.

Residents looking to experience new dining options before Petite Edith opens can visit Gus' Sip & Dip on W. Hubbard Street, which recently began serving reimagined classic cocktails alongside elevated bar bites like French Dip sandwiches and Wagyu Steak Frites. The establishment honors the legacy of Gus' Good Food, a neighborhood staple that operated at the same location for decades, while bringing fresh energy to Near North's vibrant street scene.
