Historic Hotel Florence in West Pullman Set for $85 Million Transformation with Community Event Space
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Pullman ·
West Pullman residents have exciting news to celebrate as the historic Hotel Florence is poised for a magnificent revival. Earlier this week, Harley Clarke Development Company announced it has been selected—along with Celadon Partners and local architecture firm Farr & Associates—to lead the $85 million redevelopment of the 144-year-old landmark. The ambitious project will transform the four-story historic structure into a boutique hotel featuring a new bar and restaurant, while also including affordable housing in the 1914 annex.
The revitalization plans extend beyond just the hotel itself. Harley Clarke revealed that they will create a dedicated event space within the former Pullman factory in partnership with Art of Culture to bring community gatherings and cultural events to the area. This collaboration will connect with Harley Clarke's other historic preservation project, the Evanston Mansion, which is scheduled to reopen in 2027. Residents can learn more about this transformative project at the upcoming West Pullman Community Association meeting on December 5th, where representatives will discuss how this historic renovation will honor the neighborhood's rich industrial heritage while creating new opportunities for tourism and economic growth.
