Rogers Park's Le Piano Jazz Bar Continues Legacy Following Owner's Passing

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Rogers Park ·

A beloved Rogers Park cultural institution will continue to bring music to the community following the unexpected passing of co-owner Chad Willetts last month. Le Piano, the popular jazz venue at 6970 N. Glenwood Avenue, is honoring Willetts' memory while ensuring his dream lives on through a series of tribute performances this weekend.

Willetts, who had been a fixture in Chicago's music scene for over 30 years before opening Le Piano, created the venue with partner Chad Quinlan to fulfill a 15-year dream. "I think the underlying bond that we had was that we both wanted to do something bigger than ourselves and be a conduit for something that could affect a culture," Willetts had shared when the venue first opened. The jazz bar, known for its Parisian-inspired ambiance with antique furniture and art posters, has become a cornerstone of the Glenwood Avenue Arts District.

Rogers Park residents and music lovers throughout Chicago are encouraged to visit Le Piano to experience live jazz performances and support this important neighborhood cultural space. The venue's continuation represents the resilient spirit of Rogers Park's vibrant arts community, which includes numerous theaters, galleries, and music venues that contribute to the neighborhood's unique character.
