University Village Association Unveils New Community Banner Program for Taylor Street Businesses
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/University Village Little Italy ·
The University Village Association has launched an innovative banner program to highlight local businesses along Taylor Street in University Village Little Italy. Installed in late November 2025, the eye-catching banners showcase the neighborhood's diverse culinary and retail offerings as part of the organization's 2025 Shop & Dine Local Marketing Campaign.
The initiative aims to increase visibility for the corridor's independent businesses while celebrating the area's unique blend of Italian heritage and contemporary offerings. More than 30 neighborhood establishments are featured in the program, which encourages residents and visitors to explore Taylor Street's vibrant mix of traditional Italian eateries alongside newer businesses representing Indian, Thai, Portuguese and French cuisine. The banners also direct shoppers to specialty retailers like First Aid Comics and Flavio Gentile's wine shop, emphasizing the neighborhood's walkable, community-focused character.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the campaign by sharing their favorite local business experiences on social media using #ShopTaylorStreet2025. The University Village Association will host a community meet-and-greet event on December 7th where neighbors can connect with featured business owners and learn about special holiday offerings throughout the district.
