Palmer Square Winter Bazaar Debuts December 7 With Local Artisans and Arboretum Tours

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Palmer Square ·

Palmer Square residents have a new reason to celebrate this holiday season as the Palmer Square Park Advisory Council announces the inaugural Winter Bazaar, set to launch Saturday, December 7 at the former Extraordinarium space. The seasonal market will feature handcrafted items from local artisans and include guided winter tours of the recently designated arboretum.

The bazaar arrives just in time to showcase the neighborhood's historic achievement as Palmer Square Park became Chicago's first officially accredited arboretum in September 2025 through the ArbNet Accreditation Program. "Our newly designated arboretum status gives more weight to tree preservation and education in the Palmer Square area," said a representative from the Advisory Council. The winter tours will highlight the park's impressive collection of 28 tree species while teaching residents about seasonal tree identification and winter ecology.

Community members are encouraged to support local artists while learning about Palmer Square's natural heritage at this new weekend destination. The bazaar will operate every Saturday through February, offering neighborhood residents a consistent gathering spot during the winter months. For those interested in participating as vendors or volunteers, contact information can be found through the Palmer Square Park Advisory Council website.
