Archer Heights Food Depository Launches Holiday Volunteer Initiative for December 2025

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Archer Heights ·

The Greater Chicago Food Depository, headquartered in Archer Heights, has announced an expanded holiday volunteer program beginning Friday, December 5, 2025. The initiative invites neighborhood residents to participate in special weekend food packaging sessions throughout the month, helping to ensure food security for vulnerable Chicagoans during the holiday season.

Volunteers will work in the organization's warehouse facilities, packaging food for distribution to community partners across the city. "This program offers Archer Heights residents a meaningful way to give back while connecting with neighbors," said Maria Vasquez, volunteer coordinator. "Our community has always demonstrated incredible generosity, and these weekend sessions make volunteering accessible to families and working professionals alike."

Participants can sign up for the December volunteer sessions through the Food Depository's website or by visiting their headquarters on Archer Avenue. The organization will conclude the month's activities with a special community appreciation event at Curie Park, known for hosting neighborhood holiday festivals, where volunteer participants will be recognized for their contributions to this vital community resource.
